The Los Angeles County COVID-19 CARES Act Childcare Grant Program will provide grants of $10,000 or $40,000 to eligible childcare operators in Los Angeles County who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Program Overview

  • Eligible Operators

    The grant will be open to the following childcare operators:

    CHILDCARE CENTERS
    A licensed Childcare Center is usually located in a commercial building. Licensed facilities also include those operated on school sites and in faith-based settings.  Non-medical care and supervision is provided for infants (birth to 36 months), preschoolers (three to five years old) and/or school age children in a group setting for periods of less than 24 hours.

    FAMILY CHILDCARE HOMES
    A licensed Family Childcare Home must be in the licensee's own home. A Family Childcare Home reflects a home-like environment where non-medical care and supervision is provided for periods of less than 24 hours. The grant is open to Small Family Childcare Homes (providing care for up to 8 children) and Large Family Childcare Homes (providing care for up to 14 children).

  • Targeted Areas

    Childcare operators MUST be located within the County of Los Angeles, with the exception of childcare facilities operating in the City of Los Angeles, as the City also received its own allocation of CARES Act funds and has its own programs for City childcare operators.

  • Program Requirements

    The eligible licensed childcare operator MUST: 

    1.   Submit a completed application, including requested attachments,within the application period.
    2.   Be in good standing with the Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD); and
    3.   Complete a W-9 and sign a grant agreement. 
     



     

    In order to prepare a complete application, please gather the following documents in advance:

    1.   Childcare Facility License Numbers issued (per age group) by CCLD; 
    2.   Government-issued Photo ID (each owner); 
    3.   Complete set of 2018 and 2019 Federal Taxes; 
    4.   Lease agreement or MOU for childcare facility; 
    5.   501 (c) 3 Letter (if applicable); and 
    6.   Business License (if applicable)
